I'm getting true duals put on my 87' as my first mod. I'm going to install some headers before I have the exhaust put on. Do you guys have any recommendations? I've been looking at Hedman and Flowtech headers. Is there a problem with just using painted headers or will they be too hot? Is ceramic worth the extra cost?

Any advice would be great.

I put Headman headers on my 1984 and have been beyond happy with them. I also spent the extra $100.00 and got the ceramic ones which do make a big difference in the heat level in the engine compartment and heat that destroys the starters. I got the long tube ones and they went on amazingly easy and I have not regretted the money for a second.

Spend the coin on the cerama-coated headers or better still if they're being ordered have them shipped directly to Jet-Hot and coated there. The coating will not only do a LOT to reduce the underhood temps but it will also extend the lifetime of the header (low-to-mid end headers have a habit or burning out after 8-10yrs and changing rotten old headers is a job you want to avoid if you can). You'll have to ck w/the mfg but a lot of the ceramic coatings are only on the outside while Jet-Hot & a few of the others are both sides but look into it. I wouldn't spend a dime on a single-sided coating and this is one of those times & places where the hi-tech solution really IS better, but just an opinion.
