dana44 1/2 - 3/4 conversion

I was trying to find out if anyone has ever swapped a dana 44 to 8 lug using only new hubs ?custom bearings are probably the way to go but looking for some "I DID THAT"

You need the 8 lug spindle's hub's and all the front brake part's.That's all.We did it on my friend's Bronco,it was pretty easy.

I was thinking that the dana 44 ford 3/4 ton axle had a bigger spindle ****** than the half ton D44 . I know this is bad but the chevy 3/4 ton dana 44 is no different than there 1/2 ton just that it has eight lug hubs on it . I know for sure that you can take everything off the chevy axle from spindles out and bolt them right on the ford dana 44 TTB axle just have to mill off the brake caliper mounts from the TTB thats how I changed my one bronco over to eight lugs so it would match the dana 60 in the rear . I have a dana 44 3/4 ton out of a 79 and I have a dana 44 1/2 ton out of a 79 here so maybe tomorrow I can take some pics . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I have swapped a few. I just swap everything from the knuckle out. Keep your stock knuckles, but change the rest. While you have it apart leave off the dust shield for better brake cleaning and cooling. You can reuse your lockouts.

Sell the rest of the axle on ebay. Also sell your 5 lugs parts as a drum to disc conversion kit.

Well if you are going to go as far as to want to upgrade why not swap the whole thing out instead of just the stuff from the knuckles out. just my opinion though :-"

so to match a 60 rear you can just order new 44 8lug spindles/rotor/bearings/hubs?? you dont need the 8 lug trucks knuckles for this?
