This is an email I got from someone supposedly interested in my Bronco:

Thanks for the mail,,am very

intrested in buying the

item,but

am very sorry and it is a pity that i willl not be

able to come over to your place to have a look at

the

item but i willl love to proceed with this

transaction

,so i will like to know if the present condition of

the item is in good shape.Moreso i will be making

the payment asap which will come in a check

method, issued by my bank manager to you.I would have

loved to pay you cash but my bank will not allow

that. However,i will like you to get back to me with

your full name and address so i can send it to my

bank

to issue the to you.

Lastely you will not have to ship the item, because i

do have a shipping company that have been working

for

me for the past years,so they will be coming for the

pick-up of the item as soon as the check clears your

bank.

Hope to read back from you soon

Regards

Can you say SCAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean come on. Calling a Bronco an "Item" is like calling the Hope Diamond a rock. To qoute Bugs Bunny, " What a marooooon!" <_<

Yeah, you should be very wary of this guy. What kind of bank will not allow you to take out cash to buy something? There are so many scams out there; you just can't be too careful. I suspect that after you give this guy your name and address, his check won't clear or there will be some other problem with it and he will "need you bank information" so that he can get it fixed. If you sell it to someone that you will never meet in person you should do it through a reputable company like ebay where there are protections for both buyer and seller, or a long time user of a site such as this one where you can be reasonably sure the person is on the up and up. And, of course, don't turn over the vehicle or the title until you have either cash in your hand or verified money in the bank.

By the way, I think $2000 is a great deal for the truck you described.

Is $2000 seriously your price? Thats too cheap. put it up for about 3600.00 It will sell way faster. Your truck is in excellent shape, 2000.00 will attract a lower quality of people that can't afford it in the first place. I would buy that in a second but I'm sure your sick of people saying "if I were only closer". I wonder what the e-mailer is up to. I would try and see if the cops are interested in catching a scammer, maybe they can set you up with a fake name and still let you cash the check if its legit. That would be too much fun.

He says he would have the bank send the check to whatever address I gave him. I could give him a post office box and a fake address and keep the Bronco and the money. Oh wait. Then I would be no better than him. (waving hands in front of your face hypnotically) "you never heard me say that"

The best part is," He will have his people ship it to him." Come on, if I had money to ship something somewhere Then I could buy a Bronco in better shape than mine. Didn't you like how he called it,"the item."

I thought that was great. Broken English is one thing, but that was just assanine.

Hey Yardape - I figured out it has a bad head gasket. Therefore, I figure that with the bad sending unit, need of lower ball joints, and a new head gasket, if someone can't do it themselves and wants to have it done the difference between the Kelly/NADA price to $2000 would be just about right for repairs and then they would have a great ride. I ain't budgin off the $2000. Well unless someone walks up to me with cash and then I will take $1995.

YES IT IS A SCAM!!! Same type of response when we tried to sell my wifes jeep. A little story,,, True one.....This older couple was selling their class-A motor home ( big a@@ RV) they recieved a check from some bank out of state, and the motor home was picked up, they used the check to pay off their dream house so they could retire with no more payments. When the smoke cleared the RV had been taken out of the US. GONE and their house was still not paid for those people lost a fortune and had no way to legally recover the RV. I agree with the other guys sell it locally for CASH or on E-bay.

I say keep it and fix it!! Is that an option??? Have I asked this before???

Can't keep. Got a house, Explorer, baby to pay for. Hey wait - maybe I could sell the baby and pay off the other two and keep. I think I have a plan. Just kidding - baby cries a lot - couldn't get enough to keep the other two.

Head gasket is funny thing, I can respect your decision to let it go with that problem, I almost tossed mine when I found out the gasket was toast.

Not saying I cant do it, I just didnt want to, Its a never ending battle. Just stating that it crossed my mind, I was just overwhelmed with stuff that needed to be done, and to top it off I needed a second vehicle for work, and didnt have the time to fix it. I have weathered the storm now things are looking up so everythings good. I am not ready for the 460 swap, so spending all that time and money on something I will just yank out in a couple months drives me crazy

Nope just lazy. LOL, I hate undoing the same bolts I just tightened, for example. I had a '79 5.0 Mustang, I put a roller 302 from a 90 mustang and the t-5 tranny as well as the 8.8 3.55 rear end into it. I was looking at the clutch thinking maybe I should get a new one, but figured this one had at least a year or two in it, me being a broke bum that used grocery and rent money to buy the powertrain in the first place made the wrong decision at installed it. I took it for a rip and loved it, the power increase was unbelieveable. I went to show it off to my friends and a smokeshow followed right after. I blew the damn clutch about 3 hours after getting the car one the road, I was ****** to say the least. I let it sit for a few days then finally yanked the tranny in my gravel driveway in the rain. Put in a new clutch and pressure plate and was off and running in about 4 hours. I cursed and swore at every bolt I removed that I had just put in a few days prior. That is my nemesis, I can yank anything apart and reassemble it and love it, when I have to redo it I get angry.... LOL

Yeah, I hate tranny,s in general my older brothers senior year he blew his trans ( c-6 ) several times, last time we had it up on blocks in the drive way, Plywood around it electric heaters under it an what seemed like 3 feet of snow on the ground. We f@#$% froze. FFWD 15 years he still has that 70 f-100 New punched 360 in it and he still has tranny problems. Go figure!!!! LOL
