Hi,
i am slowly getting to know my '76, and its little "quirks." lately it has been slow to start, but starts. not electrical, and seems to be more of a carb problem. last night, it was giving me a little trouble, so i revved it pretty good to i don't know, but clear it out in a sense. Conked out. Wouldn't start back up and there was a pretty good smell of gas during my repeated attempts, so i thought maybe i flooded it and left it for the night.
this morning, still wouldn't start so i took the air filter off the carb was pretty dry, so i poured gas into it and it started up for a second or two, then stopped, made a backfire like sound (but quieter), and a little flame came out of the carb.
i have a haynes manual coming, but of course it hasn't arrived yet, so does anyone have a suggestion? i am going to try the fuel filter and pump, but i am a little blind without documentation.
thanks.
