I have a 77 Ranger with a C-4, and the back-up lights have never worked. I have done some checking to make sure that it is not a fuse or shorted wire. I believe that the problem is in th neautral safety switch.

Could that be where the problem is, and what is involved with replacing it? Someone told me that you have to remove the valve body to replace it, Is this true?

No you dont have to take the valve body off . Theres a 5/16 fine thread nut (1/2 inch wrench) that holds the kick down lever on the drivers side of the tranny you need to remove that then theres 2 I think 5/16 wrench bolts that hold the nuetral safety switch on the holes are sloted for adjustment . To check to see if the switch is bad unplug it and take a peice of wire ane jump the 2 black wires with the purple stripe together and the reverse ligts should turn on . Its not bad to change but the switch is around $60 . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
