 /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> Beware of later models broncos had a very scary thing happen to my wife and son. While coming to a red light during braking she lost all stopping ablility, finally stopping with the E-brake, after towing it home checking the problem was one of the front brake lines. So I started checking thre rest of the lines as I started to touch them they all started to desintagrate. I pulled every brake line in truck today to have new ones made up and we are talking about a 1996 truck "they sure don't build them like they use to" I had a 25 year old bronco that never had that problem has anybody else had this problem, is caused by the electric for the ABS motor or have lost some kind of a ground missing to the ABS?

That just happened to me on a recent wheeling trip. I got pulled out of a brutal mud hole and all of a sudden no brakes. Just crimped the brake line off and continued with the trip. Broke off right at the big square part that mounts to the caliper. The other one is ready to go now too, Good thing it happened in the bush and not on the road though.

That happened to me as well. I hadto go to a junk yard and get a brake line. Seems, the one I needed no one sells, not even Ford. I will have to get the rest fabricated. But alot of rust and disentegration on them. Mine is a 96 as well, that was well maintained and a one owner. I also noticed my power steering lines corroding very bad. Might want to check them out.

thanks!

As soon as we took the 96 home, new in May 96; I got out the Rust Bullet and sprayed the lines, fittings, etc. as well as a coating in rear fender lips, etc., tailgate,.... ; same for oil pan and radiator core supports. The passenger side is a nice rect. trap for water and rust
