ATF in Transfer Case

Good morning all. I was recently gifted a '76 and noticed ATF leaking out of the transfer case. Can anyone tell me why I would be leaking ATF out of the transfer case?

Check the tag on the transfer case. Unless someone put a newer style transfer case (NP208 or?), the fluid should be gear oil.
