My 69 has had working clutch for the past couple of years, but it has always rattled a bit before letting off. I have just ran it for the first time in about 6 months and at first had trouble gettinb it into gear, especially reverse. Do yall think that its the clutch that has gone bad or flywheel or maybe adjustments can be made as it is???

".....but it has always rattled a bit before letting off"

Not sure what this means....... letting off gas..?

Doesn't sound serious.....

"...first time in about 6 months and at first had trouble gettinb it into gear, especially reverse"

Can you shift (all gears) with eng. off..?

Is it a column shift..? ---- {linkage prob.}

Does it shutter upon engaging the clutch..? ..as in, letting out the pedal.?

The "rattle" may be a tired throw-out bearing.

More info. if you can........... :huh: ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> (Like eng., trans, mods, type shifter, etc.)

You could fill in your sig. page as well..........

The engine is a 302 three on the tree t shift- The rattling occurs when the clutch is being pressed in and being let out, but not when its let out completely or fully pressed down. All gears can be shifted when the engine is off, but reverse can be harder. The rattling is worst whenever i'm in gear and let out the clutch to take off... But fine once in gear and going. I'd hate to have to re[lace the clutch$$

This sounds like typical adjustment issues with any column shifter.

I'd hate to have to replace the clutch $$

Nobody looks forward to this.....

Throw-out bearings usually have a tingly rattle when relaxed.., i.e. no pressure on clutch pedal.

Safety while testing is paramount.

You might have to "bite the bullet" & pay a shop to put it up on the rack & "listen/look" fr. underneath.
