5.0 crown vic efi in 73 or 76 eb

will late 80's or early 90's 5.0 efi from crown vic fit 73 or76 eb? my 76 needs rebuild & have access to complete crown vic engine. i dont think there would be much to change but ya'll are the pro's so i thoght i would ask. thanks for any help.

I am doing the same swap.I am useing a 1996 5.0 out of a f150.I know I will need a wireing harness to make the computer work. Painless wiring makes a harness.I plan on useing the factory automatic trans.This swap is do-able.I'll post any thing I come up with as I go along.

Yes it will work. If you just use the top half of the engine (all the EFI stuff) or the whole thing, it will work just fine. Mine has the original 72 block with an 87 Merc. Grand Marquis speed density EFI system. The car plenum will also fit under a stock hood without the need for a body lift. The truck plenum will either have to have one or more modifications, body lift, high rise hood, cut original hood or the easiest, to use a car plenum & adapter plate (BC Broncos sells the adapter plate).

Good luck boys, it is a great upgrade and you won't be sorry you did it. I never regretted junking the carb and I certainly won't ever look back.

Yes, the truck intake is too tall to fit without a body lift and or modified hood. I did this as well, used an E150 as a doner but wound up using a mustang intake because the truck intake didnt fit.

Custom Job you are wright. The truck motor is about 4in to tall. Did you use a factory intake or an after market?

I wound up using a factory mustang upper and lower intake manifold. I even used the factory intake hose but put a cone filter on the end of it and flipped it so it went to the back pass. corner of the engine compartment bc my battery was in the way. Thats pretty much what my engine looks like too. The car plenum has clearance of about 1/2", but it will not hit. If you want the truck plenum, you will do one of either cutting the hood, buying a high rise hood, a body lift or a combination of two of those options. There is no way around it.

You are gonna need a throttle cable too. I got mine from BCbroncos.com i think, and i also got the kickdown cable too. If you look in the picture the cables are the silver things running over the dist. cap.

So some one makes a cable, that is good to know . what transmission are yall useing?I was able to sell the 93 f150 today now I need to find a car to use as a donor vehicle.What did yall do about the computer and wireing harness?

i used the stock c4 trans. I was told to use a manual trans computer, but the truck didnt run right with it. It stalled when i put it in gear. I put the auto trans computer from the 87 e150 in and it stopped stalling. The wiring harness is also from the e150. I would say whatever car you get as a donor, use the wiring harness. Itll save you about 500 bux. (the stalling issue may have been before i had an oxygen sensor, i cant remember. I will try to put the manual trans comp in and see what happens)

Dunno why that would matter, I used full length headers.

thanks for all the info everone has shared so far. keep it comming! can i use my stock fuel tanks? what about fuel pump & lines?

I'm pretty sure you will have to use a eletric fuel pump that will have more fuel pressure. And you will have to put a fuel return line in the tank. If you are going to put a new gas tank in it you can weld in a fitting for the return.

I picked up a 1994 Thunderbird with 116+k on it.It has a 5.0 **& 116+K on it. It should make a good donor.
