302 EFI swap from a 1988 f-150. Is the Plenum to high?

Hi there. I just picked up a 1988 302 EFI for the running gear to swap into my '68 Bronco. I see alot of swaps with the same 302 out of the mustangs. I want to know if there are any huge complications with doing the same swap with the larger plenumed 302 out of a truck? I know they are tall and I'm giving it a three inch bodylift in order to accomadate the larger plenum. If you have any advice on fit it would be much appreciated.

I looked into doing this at one point with a "freebie" that I was going to

have access to.... turned out that the three inch b.l. was going to be about 4-5" too little to clear the truck intake.

Stick with the 'stang stuff, I have seen those rub the hood on a non b.l. EB, but with a little massaging of the hood ribs it will clear.

yep, don't do the truck plenum. Sits way too high and I really wouldn't recommend a 3" B.L. anyway. If you want the truck plenum then you need to get a hi-rise fiberglass hood. Check out Wild Horses and look at the GTX, High Country,Terra, Pro Flow or Highlander hoods. They are high profiles and might work. I would call and ask them though.

I think I'm gonna do it anyway. There is alot that hasn`t been done and I think that we can make a different looking ride. I'm a bodyman and painter by trade and am now working on my mechanics ticket 3 years in. I took some measurements and I say that it can be done and have a wicked 4 by just the same. I am fabricating my own tube style doors already on the truck, as well as some other rocker guards and what not. I see alot of the same old and I want to mix it up like the jeep industry did. I will take photos of the build and time line. We are putting the AOD tranny in and building it to the nuts. I want to prove that with the right direction you can accomplish anything with a Bronco, If that fails I have 4 other trannies to choose from. As well as a wack of C6's to throw in there. I will keep you guyts updated as to how it goes and the problems we run into. It is going to be the every access, cheap mans build but with a few exceptions. Anyway....you guys probably think I'm an ass but I think I am going to try to break the mold without losing the general bronco feel. I hope that I can shae my ideas with you guys on this site. Anyway....let's see how it goes.

No worries I'll let you know. We have the drive train out (engine, trans and t-case). I'm currently rebuilding the the trans (AOD) and transfer case and am going to be mocking up the engine in the bronco this weekend. It is going to sit a bit high but I'm going to make some modifications to the hood (it will look cool). We are debatiing the install of a C6 over the AOD as well as the 1356 t-case. I might link the C6 to the dana 20. But there is always the fact that I can build the AOD to withstand pretty much anything and still have OD. So I might stick with all the original running gear from the donor truck. I have endless options and running gear combinations ( I currently have a 351W, 302, 302 EFI, 289, C4, C6, AOD, NP435, 3-9"inch rears, 2-Dana 44 fronts, 2-Dana 30 fronts, and 3- Dana 60 fronts which two are cut down to fit) I'll be taking pics over the weekend of the progress. We are also in the middle of a CJ7 build as well so we have lots to do. Happy wheeling people.
