Just got this Bronco in March for a grand. Good starter for a major project. Have already spent over $900. When you excellerate she cuts out over 3 grand and falls on her face. A couple of days ago it started cutting out and backfiring for about 6 city blocks. Did not think I was going to make it home. Any ideas?

Also having problems with the windows...left front and rear stopped working the same day, 2 days later the right front quit working. Checked fuses.

List of things that I have replaced so far:

Distributor

Rotor bug

O2 sensor

complete exaust system

computer diagnostic showed fuel pump bad, (but it squirts fuel 10 feet)

Changed oil/lubed

Replaced fuel filter

put in Lucus oil stabilizer

oil sending unit

new tires 31 /115 /15's

Map sensor

new gas tank (old one had pin holes in it)

and today the husband is replacing plugs and wires...is this gonna fix this damn thing???

HELP!

The computer disgnostic/ checking for codes should show if any sensors are bad, like the TPS (throttle position sensor) or EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) position sensor. Recently, someone else posted about a problem with carbon build-up in the EGR tube. Changing the distributor cap, wires and plugs is a good idead, too. May get an idea of any problems by looking at the old plugs and checking for fouling or carbon build-up. I would check the timing, too. JSM84

I don't think that the windows and your inability to go over 3,000 RPM are connected, so for now I would like to stay focused on the engine problem.

My guess would be your TPS, but first I would pull codes.

If you don't know how to, I put together a tutorial to get you started. All you need is a little 4 inch piece of wire and the abilty to count to ten.

Ended up with 2 problems:

1. spark plugs were set for 351 cleveland and not a 351 windsor ****

2. Weak fuel pump, needs replaced

Go figure!

Thanks so much for all your help, now I can concentrate on the body work and paint....FINALLY!

Quick question about the windows...

Can you hear the motors running when you try to move the fronts? The rear is a different animal.
