I'm going to look at an 87 F-350 on Friday that's for sale, to swap the whole drivetrain into my 84 Bronco project. I plan on using at least the 460, auto and t-case. What options did this truck have for a rear axle? And would that be worth replacing my (weak) Ford 9" to run 40-42" tires? I figure the front should be a Dana60 (woohoo!). THis truck is not a duallie, it's single wheels in back (SRW). JSM84

Would that be a full-floater Sterling 10.25? And if the front axle has leaf springs, that would make it a Dana60? I'll know more tomorrow when I go see it, and look for ant numbers or codes. JSM84

Thanks, Blade, for your advice!!! I've been searching for a 1-ton donor truck for about a year and a half, as well as a new 460/C6/NP205 combo for my 84 Bronco. I kinda hate to chop up a good, running F-350, but they're really hard to find in S.Texas as alot of ranches keep them forever. May change my mind after I look at the truck, as I may keep it as is for a work truck if I buy it. JSM84

I bought the truck yesterday. It's an 88 F-350, 4-dr longbed, 4x4, 460 EFI, C-6, B-W 13-56 manual t-case, Dana60 front, Sterling 10.25 rear with L/S. The axle code is C9, and the tag showed 3.55 gears as well. Motor runs like a sewing machine, just a bit of black smoke a WOT. Made the 100-mi drive home with only one flat on some scary tires.
