Is your engine dead? If your patient, sometimes you can find them on craigslist or ebay for cheap. Another place to try would be your local junk yard. If you get one from the junk yard you can rebuild it yourself for pretty cheap. If you have never rebuilt an engine before you can find a wealth of knowlage on this forum, books and talking to people at your local auto parts store. Hope you find a good engine! Keep us posted if you have any problems. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Summit Racing has 351W replacements from Ford Racing. It has everything on it but a carb and headers, even spark plugs and wires. Its the same as what came in it from the factory and its about 3k.

i was trying to get lower than 1k. The motor in it has a problem with the flex plate that is a long story but other than that it has been sitting fo 3 years and i need to get it running before it starts rotting. the problem with the flex plate is it has been replaced several times and has the same problem. the starter just doesnt come out far enough to engage completly when both(starter and flexplate) are new it works for about 6 months the they strip each other out.

Sounds like you need to get a smaller block plate (I think that's what it's called? The spacer thing between the engine and tranny) or get rid of it all together. Also, you pick up a re-ring kit for relitively cheap and you can have your block cleaned, honed and have cam bearing installed for a decent price. Last time I did that it ran me just over $700. Just make sure you do it by the book or it wont last long. I know from experiance.... *DOH!*

I bought a crate motor from Autozone back in 1994, ran it for 4 years, sold the truck and its still pushing that rig around with no issues at all. It had a 3 year warranty with it, never needed it. I paid right at $1,1000.00 for it as a stock replacement.

Just looked it up on Autozone's website, with your old one as a core it is $1,379.99 and has a 3 yr warranty. Now that is for my 1984.

Just something to consider.

I don't think you will be sorry, crate motors get a bad wrap alot but if your not into rebuilding yourself then its the way to go. Autozone sold me a great one, no complaints at all from it for years and its built to factory specs. Let us know how it turns out.

As for the sand bar...I'm not sure, I live on the big sand bar down south in Orlando, FL.

where can i get a motorcraft flexplate from. Do i have to go to the dealer or is there an online source. I might try that first cause the motor should still be fine it only has about 60,000 on it. It has been sitting for almost 3 years but has been started or at least turned over every 6 months or so

From the sounds of this I'm assuming that a ) the truck is not currently running and b ) you're planning to do this work yourself ? If you're capable of pulling & swapping the engines then do yourself a favor & ck w/local machine shops what a short block will cost you. Some may have one on the self & others may want you to bring them the short block for them to rebuild. Either way, a shortblock rebuild kit (pistons, rods, bearings, can, etc) runs $250-$300 and if you just get the block hot-tanked & bored without needing to align-hone the crank journals then you're looking at *maybe* another $350 in machinework & assembly. Pull your existing engine, strip it & drop it off. Pickup the rebuilt short block, reassemble it and be done with the whole thing for maybe $850 (including the new flywheel). Otherwise just google "rebuilt shortblock" and you'll have more leads than you'll know what to do with. In a single evening you can find a better deal than Autozone if that's what you're looking for.

I bought a reman straight 6 for my van in 04 from autozone for like 1300ish.It had a knock in it from day 1, burns oil like crasy (1 quart every two weeks) and has half the power my original motor had with 300,000 miles on it. Called them and they wont warranty it because it works they said call them back when it fails. Well now my warranty is up and the motor runs but will not pass mass inspection, because it burns so much oil. I'm just so disgusted with the whole thing I can't drag myself out there ands tear it down yet.

Anyway my opinion is just order direct from atk or jasper they are great usually .

And even if you have a problem they warranty it no questions asked.

In my 84 fsb ATK replaced my 302 even after I drowned it in salt water.

Thats just my 2 cents.
