The Rattle

5 speed 302 runs great. its just that when i idle at some times the rear end rattles. And when i turn the engine off it rattles at that point also. It doesnt happen all the time. Mostly after i have warmed it up quite a bit or if it is cold.

This probably doesnt make any sence. I have run out of options.

New exhaust?

Throw out bearing?

Any ideas?

Check the exhaust, including the heat shield for the cat. conv. The rattlin' heat shield drove me nuts for a while, JSM84

Yep... that'd be my bet too.

A broken hanger would cause a rattle for sure.

my rattle ended up beeing the rear swaybar. i tighten the bolts and in a week the rattle came back... just added loctite to the threads
