Hi Everyone im brand new here.. just bought a 91 Ford Bronco with a 302 with 139000 miles on it.. Ive been playing around with it and have stumbled on a problem.. At low speed everything runs fine.. but when going up a hill on the interstate or at higher speed (55+) the entire car starts to shudder.. BAD!!, if you smash on it its fine and evens out or if you let off the gas it stops i want to know what that might be so what kinda damage im looking into to get fixed.. Also my 4x4 is kinda iffy. we got stuck last night and i put it in low and put the lockers on and it seemed it worked when it wanted to.. Im just not sure what is going on with it.. Drives great other wise. LOVE IT!!!, Also the guy who owned it before me said he had the drive shaft replaced.. my friend said he thinks it might be that but is not positive at all.

Well for your hubs, they might be gummed up, The factory ford hubs as well as the warn standard hubs have very weak springs in them. I bought some standards when I first got the Bronco just becuase of the cost but I didn't like them and bought Warn Premiums right away. I havent installed them yet but I have them. When you lock in the factory ones if there is any crud in there of as I found when It's a bit cold they wont spring into place. The premiums are the way to go, they take a full turn to engage instead of a 1/4 like stock. The vibration could be many things, you said new driveshaft so the u-joints should be good. The pinion nut could have come loose a bit (very common) You could have a bent rim, a balance weight could have fallen off a tire, or the drive shaft. Just check a few things out, something should turn up.

maybe your hubs dont unlock? i notced my 90 has a little vibration in the front if i leave my hubs locked and get on the highway. ive made a habit of backing up a little after i unlock them. seems like sometimes they dont disengage just unlocking them.

That sounds like hubs that need just a little TLC. Take them apart, clean them, lightly grease them, and reassemble. What you are doing by backing up is taking a little pressure off the gears inside the hubs. If they have old grease, it is probably causing them to stick a bit.

If your running low RPM's at 55 MPH and it shudders then I think it may be an issue with fuel. Not to posotive but that's my guess since you said if you mash it the shudder goes away. Also, same thing if it does it up hills, kind of like it doesn't have any power? Just thought I would put in my $.02
