Witch Winch do i chose OPINIONS PLEASE

:huh: im not sure on a winch for my bronco and i need some help i dont need it for offroading (MUCH) i dont get into very big mudholes i mostly want it for the winter im sure ill need it. the one im looking at the a 1700lb. max. pull OPINIONS PLEASE :huh:

1700 lbs??? Is that a typo? Thats smaller than most people have on their quads. The smallest I would go is a Warn 8000. There are cheaper but for the amount of times you would use it you really want to know your winch will work.

im not using it that much and the warn 8000 that i looked at is runing 689.38 and your right i just looked at the atv winch and it has 2500 pounds max pull. i would be better of buying a atv winch they shouldnt even make the 1700, do you know were i can find one cheaper no more than i think i will use it i dont want to spend 700.00 on one

I would suggest maybe e-bay. If the price of a warn winch is out then there are other options, Mile Marker. Ramsey, Super Winch. Also theres one from Austrailia thats suppost to be pretty good. A quad winch will not do anything for you. And would look hidious on the front of your truck. Maybe a better option for you would be carry a "Block and tackle" in your truck and lots of tow straps, or chains. Your truck is pushing 5000 pounds you would roast the little winch in no time. Just be patient and save some money. Buy your recovery gear bit by bit. In no time you'll be on your way. Also we have a bargain finder, I am unsure what it would be called in your area, but if you look through there you should be able to find a small winch that someone is upgrading or something. Anyways good luck....

Yeah I agree with Yardape dont buy the little winch even doubled back it is only good for 3400 lbs youll cook it for sure . I have a warn 9000 lb very nice got it from a guy getting out of wheelin he only had it a yr hardly used $600 with the reece mount . and all cables /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

in my opinion get something like an 8000 lb winch and if needed use a snatchblock to double the power

You need to think about the winch you're going to buy in relation to the weight of your vehicle AND what situations you would be pulling through. You're not just pulling your 6,500lb truck on dry pavement. You're going to pull with the added resistance of steep inclines, over rocks, and out of sticky and deep mud. That adds a tremendous amount of force needed to recover your vehicle. 8,000lb. winches struggle to work under those conditions with with our size of vehicle. Something to consider while your trying to go the cheap route. You get what you pay for, and that may just be a burnt out winch while you're ankle deep in ****.

Well if your looking to get somethin cheap and an 8000lb.er Harbor Frieght has them for cheap.

i would agree with the 8000 pound winch but if your not off roading alot you could probubly get away with a 5 or 6000 lb winch

If your not off-roading a lot, YOU DON'T NEED A WINCH. Unless you want to just portray the image that you off-road. So you might just want to add lots of stickers while you're at it. And, no you can't get away with a 5-6000lb winch when your truck weighs more than that. Not exactly good advice.

the reason i want the winch i will be using it to load demo cars and junk cars alot i know the winter is going to be pretty ruff around here and im sur friends will be stuck in the snow. when i go offroading i dont get stuck and i dont use a winch never have and i never have needed it. and i got into some pretty nasty shit last night

Then it appears you don't need a winch. It appears you just need a tow strap and some hooks. Look, I just saved you about $800+.
