So I live in San Jose CA. I have a 68 Bronco with a 351 Windsor, Edelbrock Manifold and Holley Carb. I replaced the distributor with a DUI and things were swell. Then I started having some electrical problems so I figured I would re-wire the ride. Ordered the Painless set and ***. This thing really sucks. Lots of extra wires. Pretty vague instructions and now I have a Bronco that is not running, onl a couple of lights come on. I sent it to a shop here locally who wanted to charge me $5000 to do the job. Does anyone know a good Bronco guy in San jose who could help with this? Thanks,

Rob-

Hi Rob.., welcome.....

If I were in your shoes., I'd tow it to Stockton i.e. "Wild horses".

They're pretty close to you & they've done dozens of re-wires.

Maybe you could talk them into doing the hard part (under the dash) & you could do the easy (easier) part.....engine & tail-section.

However.., with a 'lil patience & phone work with "Pain(full)less"..,

you could still do it all yourself... :D/

Thanks man,

I originally called Wild Horses but they said they no longer work on vehicles. I could call Painless and that is what I am probably going to have to do. Just got back from Afghanistan, looked forward to driving this thing and now it is just sitting there. Oh well I'll get it fixed. Thanks,

Thank you for your service to this country...!!!

We had access to the motorpool on weekends, etc.

If you do., there could be some good help there.

Fr. what I've heard, the "Centech" wire kit is easier than the "Painless" for beginners.

One tip.., closely check the wire-end connectors. I bought a rig with a new wire kit installed.., just touching some of the engine wiring caused them to come out of the "crimp"..! (maybe they've improved since then.?)

I went thru & added solder to the connectors on the critical ignition components.

Lastly., Jim Creel at WH (owner) may know some EB GURU's in the area who would do some wiring on the side...maybe even "trade-labor"

Good luck., & have fun with it.... :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> :D/

Hi Rob,

I really appreciate your service, wish I could come by and help with your Bronco re-wire. I know what you're going through, I'm in the middle of rewiring my 69 with a Centec kit. If you don't have the dash out, it seems like it would be pretty hard to do; I have mine out. But the thing is, don't get overwhelmed with how many wires there are, just pick one circuit and follow it through, then another and so on. It's all pretty simple, just positives and grounds to make things work. Remember, one circuit at a time.

One wire at a time and soldering and shrink wrap is a good thing, wiring is like plumbing if the fitting leaks (electricity) the fitting is no good!

My headlights did not work well for 3 years till I figured a solid ground wire!( I had too tell tell the 12 volt juice what too do)!
