Hi all. Just wanted to introduce myself as a new member from Norway. Bought my 1979 Bronco back in 2006 but an electrical fault led me to put it away "over the winter" while I dealt with house and kids and whatever. The last two years I finally had the time to work on it again.

Pulled the old tired 351M and purchased an abandoned refurbished longblock project. It was sold as an 351M but at closer inspection of the crank, it was a 400. So then I decided to build a proper engine, by good assistance from forums and Tim Meyer, here is the list of what went in it:
  • Bored 1977 short-block .0.30 over
  • Modified oil channels acc. to Tim Meyers instructions.
  • 400 cui crank, 5MAB
  • Stroke 4 in, bore 4,03 in = 408,177 Cui= 6688 cm3
  • Keith Black #2347 pistons, estimated 9,3:1 compression
  • Total Seal CR3690-30 piston rings
  • Lunati cam shaft, duration 250 int./256 exh, lift 0.503 int./0.524 exh, lobe sep. 112 degr.
  • Lunati hydraulic lifters
  • Lunati valve springs, 342 lbs/in rate
  • COMP Cams High Energy Pushrods 7837-16 5/16x9.500
  • Scorpion Racing SCP1024 pedestal rolling rocker arms 1.73:1
  • Tim Meyer special cam bearings
  • PowerBond PB1082ST harmonic balancer
  • Carter M6882 fuel pump
  • Crane Cams Performance Roller Timing Chain Set 52975-1
  • FlowKooler 1648CI High Flow water pump
  • Milodon #30520 rear sump 8qt oil pan and pick-up
  • Edelbrock #1825s 650 cfm offroad carburator, 4-port mechanic secondary, manual choke
  • Edelbrock Performer 400 intake manifold
  • Edelbrock air cleaner
  • ARP bolts all around
  • HEI electronic distributor
  • 1-wire 80A alternator
  • Mini starter with internal relay
Most of the electric system and wiring have been replaced or at least gone through properly. Outside is a bit rough but will deal with that later on.

Gonna have the mandatory technical inspection done on Friday so fingers crossed.

Welcome

While in the USMC I got the chance to do some training in Norway back in 1989. One of the most beautiful places on earth. I spent two weeks in ****. The actual name of the town is Helll in Norway. Flew into Trodhiem ( late February) and then did some training way up in the mountains overlooking a Ford. Got to see the Northern lights ... and spend a few weekends in town with the locals. Everyone speaks English .... and they actually don't hate Americans. As long as you don't mind listening to ABBA you will have the time of your life.

Yo coldnorth,
Welcome to our Big Bronco site!
Here's the 1979 Bronco/F Series Electrical & Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual by Ford via member Ziggy⚠ @

It shows Electrical component location, operation, troubleshooting, with wiring and vacuum diagrams.
It may be slow to download if you're finding that one website from which you download files operates slower than another, it's likely either because the web server is slower, or another device along the transmission route in the chain linking you to the web server operates slower.

Welcome to the club. Good looking Bronco. Like the snow too. How much do you all average in a year? Is your summer very long? We same as don,t have much winter hear, but it beats the ICE AGE .

Their is a wire that comes off the switch to the starter. That can and will catch on fire. I went through it. Had to replace some wires and used a fuse on that wire-plus a heavier wire. I read awhile back---where Ford sent out a notice about it.
