Installation of an adjustable proportioning valve is necessary when the reduction of brake line pressure is required to facilitate the balancing of front-to-rear brake bias. Both inlet and outlet are 1/8-27 NPT and come with compression fitting adapters. Pressure is able to be reduced by 57% in one line. This is use full in adjusting rear disc brakes for optimum performance. Some front disc brake conversions may benefit from this unit as well.

79 Bronco Pressure Differential (Proportioning) Valve Removal & Installation

1.Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Disconnect the brake warning lamp wire from the valve assembly switch.

To avoid damaging the brake warning switch wire connector, expand the plastic lugs so that the shell wire connector may be removed from the switch body.

2.Disconnect the brake hydraulic lines from the differential valve assembly.

3.Remove the ***** retaining the pressure differential, metering and proportioning valve assembly to the frame side rail or support bracket and remove the valve assembly.

To install:

4.Mount the combination brake differential valve assembly on the frame side rail or support bracket and tighten the attaching *****.

5.Connect the brake hydraulic system lines to the differential valve assembly and tighten the tube nuts securely.

6.Connect the shell wire connector to the brake warning lamp switch. Make sure that the plastic lugs on the connector hold the connector securely to the switch.

7.Bleed the brakes and centralize the pressure differential valve.
