y pipe crack

im not sure if this happens a lot but on my 95 5.0 5 speed the y pipe has a crack in it. the crack is in the little pipe that connects both pipes together were it turns into one pipe. how have u guys fixed this? i tried using some exhaust putty on top of some of that exhaust repair wrap but it only lasted for like a week. i need help!

The crack needs to be welded, or just replace the y-pipe. And yes, it happens often.

how much does the pipe cost cuz i dont think it can be welded , or well thats what the guy said at the shop i work at.

If it is in otherwise good condition, I'd take it to a mechanic and have him/her weld it.

just about anything can be welded, well anything metal atleast. actually some plastics can be welded too.
