The 300 is a torque monster. Feels more powerful, torque wise, than a 302 or 351w. Very reliable engine. I would run it till it dies and then consider swapping in a 351w. It will bolt right up to the tranny so would be an easy swap. The reason I would swap for the 351 is the 300 is starting to become harder to find, also more of an aftermarket for the windsor family than the 6 shooter. If it runs good, then its a pretty good engine.

i would have to aggree with Yardape. I used to have a bronco with a 300 in it and that was a good engine. i wish i had one in mine now istead of the 302.

i have a 300 in mine i love that motor. the 300 is a good low end torq engine. i dont know too much about the 351.
My dad had a 300 straight six in his 81 F-150 (actually two).It was a good engine the only thing that killed the first engine was the lower radiator hose broke on the highway and later found out it had a crack in one of the cylinders.I could tow cars without a problem across state and that was with a four speed overdrive and a 3.00 rearend gear.Never really fast though. He had that truck for 18 years.A few years ago my girlfriend was going to buy a 87 f-150 4x4 automatic with a 300 straight six ,it actually felt a lot faster than my 89 Bronco with the 351.It could of been because it had a new motor and a lot of low end torque and mine has nearly 140,000 miles. The 87 and later EFI 300's feel dramatically different than the 1 barrel carbureted sixes.

I second that firelt90bronco
I love my 351,I had many over the years, rebuilt a 69 351w for my 76 torino to replace the351m.The 300 is a reliable engine with a lot of torque and the ability to tow a decent amount, but for power,I would go with a v/8.When my father still had his truck we were going to pull the six and put the 351w from my old T-Bird in it, but ended up junking it.It all depends on personal preferance and what someone wants out of their truck.

The 300 is almost bullet proof if you do basic maint on it. That said I have a 351w in my 1984 and would't swap it for anything smaller.

I am starting to understand why build big trucks even if they don't drive them off road. My bronco is so much fun to drive, i look at it like a hot rod, it sounds great and is fun to cruise in and show off, and i can also use it to tow and off road, great combination.

My first one I rolled,I had all the fun with that one. This one I built to drive in the summer and fun with it on the street.

With the price of gas I've thought how nice it would be to swap my 351 for an inline 300 , lol.
