The Bronco came from Colorado, there is rust issues on the front fenders, roof and doors. 82k original miles, runs strong, the frame is covered with rust, all suspension mounts need to be replaced. The house garage is all I have for a shop! (2 car) Picture will follow

Welcome to the forum. Is your intention is to make it a daily driver or a full restoration? Do you have a budget? Looking forward to see pics. Great low mileage find.

It drives fine except, when the main tank inline filter fills up with rust. I have spares in the EB so I can keep it going! My budget is pretty weak right now, just could not pass up the buy.

Hi C17.. Welcome.,

Then there's where you start.... Where R/U..?

Pull that tank & have it boiled at a local radiator shop. (they will tell you if it's savable.)

Then, blow out the lines fr. the carb. back.

I say this as that "debris" will eventually give you carb & fuel pump troubles.

Best to have a filter coming out of ea. tank., & one after the fuel pump.

HTH,

Bob

Thanks Bully Bob, that is great advice I will put it to use. Is it straight up on removing the main tank?

Thanks c17boom

"Is it straight up on removing the main tank?"

Yep.., pretty much., release the fuel feed line, & sending unit plug-in.

Remove the filler-hose/vent-hose clamps.

Remove the strap & skid-plate & it should start droping out. (best if tank is near empty)

----on the bench ---

The filler hose(s) may be brittle & need replacing.

Tap the sending unit retaining ring loose & remove the "O" ring & sending unit.

(1 banana job..!!)

Careful.., the send. unit is a bit fragle.

IT's a bit messy but you can clean out the tank yourself if you so choose.., or talk to the radiator man.

The reserve tank is plastic & same proceedure if necess.

(no need to boil it however., it can be washed out.)

While the tank is out, you may want to replace the sending unit and retaining ring (more than likely the ring is rusty too). But if its still working, don't worry about it, just a suggestion.
