i used to have a jeep and in utah you are required to have side mirrors. so when i would take door and top off if i ran into cop having bad day he would pull me over and give me warning or once i got fix-it ticket. does this happen other places?

yah that has happend to me a couple times....I live in south texas and i usualy take the top off the truck all summer cuz it almost never rains and the tempature is usaly 100

taking them off wasnt difficult, 4 bolts each side, they are heavy so have someone with you. the wiring harness can be a pain, but behind the hood reales is the wire connects, just disconnect it , the can be a pain to get to and pull them out.. CA has the mirror law, so i am going to go to the junk yard this wkend and grad the metal style of mirrors and put them on the front fenders, till tonight i am picking up a little bike mirror to attach forr the time being..
