welding 9"rear so both tires spin

hey i'm hoping someone can explain the process and or has any pics of welding a 9"rear diff. i am running in the pemberton 4x4 rally.also i have 2 different rear ends to choose from with different gears.curious which is better, the higher or lower for course race,hill climb & mudd bogg... thanks!

It is the same as any other rear. I'm sure you can find a video online somewhere but all you have to do is weld the spider gears together. I would spin both axles to see what is going on in there. When you see what is moving when you spin the axles you should be able to tell where and what needs to be welded. Search for Lincoln locker. This is the nickname for a welded diff.

I would put a mini spool in they are cheap and you dont destroy the rear end , once you weld the gears together there is no going back and there is a chance of the gears being brittle from hardening in the welding process and they will break easily . I just sold a mini spool for a 9 inch for $30 the other day Im sure you can find one on ebay tha same . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

That may be fine if all you plan on doing is going in strait lines with no corners.
