Never had this to happen before. You are going to have to drain coolant, remove hoses from radiator and pump and remove fan blade. Loosen the belts and remove all the bolts holding the pump to the block and lightly pry the pump from the block.(It may not come off easy)

Clean the surface of the block where the water pump seals, use sealant cement on both surfaces and fit the gasket onto the pump, put a couple of bolts through the bolt holes to hold the gasket in place while you fit the pump to the block, tighten all bolts and reinstall belts. (At this point you may want to purchase new hoses and belts depending how old they are) Install fan and shroud. (How bad is shroud tore up?) Install radiator and hoses. Fill with coolant, start vehicle and check for leaks.

Hope I didn't leave anything out, and you can always purchase and Haynes or Chilton manuals from local part stores. The whole process doesn't take very long.

yea i have just been worried about breaking the bolts off around the pump if they are badly rusted you know. and i just went outside and looked and i found out why the shroud was making a horrible raket and it is because the left side is broken right where it bolts on the top, so when i turn the truck the broken piece shifts just enough to where it rubbs. so now i am in need of a fan shroud, anyone got one?

Soak the bolts with PB Blaster for a day or so. Then instead of turning them to the left to remove them, see if you can turn them a little to the right ( that is an old trick to break a rust weld, it works on screws also). If a bolt gives you a hard time work it left and right, (that helps clear any crud in the threads that are causing it to bind). Unless a bolt is already cracked or rusted nearly through, it won't sheer unless you try to force it. Working it back and forth takes a while but usually works. You can also heat the area around the bolt, but keep a fire extinguisher on hand.

Also, buy new bolts to put the pump back on with and use anti sieze on the threads. Torque to 12 - 18 ft lbs.

Good luck,

:)>-

I feel your pain man what i did when i couldn't. Get a rusted bolt out was i soaked it with pb blaster then. I gut a acedaline plumbing torch and heated up the area around the thread to expand the metal if that dosent work go to autozone or whatever and get a bolt exstractor there about 25-30$ and they attach to a 1/2 in drive that should get it out it worked for me when i was putting in my body lift and those where 5in lag bolts.......... good luck.

Hope this is not to late but if your fan is moving that much are your motor mounts still good? Worth looking into.
