Very warm transmission floor ****

This weekend I had a light rain coat folded and laid acrossed the asending section of the tranny **** inside my 95 bronco. I was driving about 40 minutes when I stopped and removed it. I noticed the jacket was quite warm and when I put my hand over that floor section it was very warm to the touch. I have the XL version with the rubber mat flooring. Is because it's not carpeted the heat is more noticeable? :-"

I think the lack of carpeting is exactly why it feels so hot to the touch. I never really noticed how hot the tranny **** got until I took out my carpet. It gets *extremely* hot to the touch with just the bare metal. I guess you could put some insulation on the bottom if it really bothers you, but there really isn't much room in there. I kind of like it though, it's a really good foot warmer in the winter...

some trannys will get hotter than other. If you have an old top loader thats cast iron case it wont heat the floor up as much. the mazda m50d and the autos with aluminum cases will heat the floor up more. Its very noticeable in my 89(carpet) with the 5speed but my 85, cast iron toploader 4 speed with rubber floor mats, isnt noticeable.
