I've decided to wait and look for a 351w instead of using the 351m I have. And as luck would have it, the guy my friend bought his bed toolbox for his pickup from has one for sale, three days later. Before he took it out, we took the truck for an hour's drive, to see how it worked. His F-250 purred at the line, and roared otherwise. No problems, handled the drive just fine and the guages never moved into dark territory. When it came time to take it out, he did the smart thing and unplugged everything instead of cutting it, so every wire is intact, and they will come with the engine. Anyway, back onto topic.

Like I said, it came out of an F-250, but it was a 2wd hooked to a 4AOD. I'm debating getting the trans from him to, he has the paperwork for it, and it shows it was a Jasper trans about 40,000 miles ago. I know the C-6 is as bulletproof as they come, but I've heard great things about the 4AOD as well. Plus, overdrive would help when I make long trips on the highways and whatnot. He said all the plates, clutches and torgue converter would come with it, everything that came out goes with. Is it worth it to grab the trans as well, and then convert it over to a 4wd capable trans?

Im in this problem now the 351m is a bigblock and the 351w is a smallblock

so if you have a 351m the 351w wont bolt up to the transmission

than about the transmission I bought a 2wheel drive transmission because I read that it can be changed to 4wd

but found out later that you must take the transmission apart to do it

just info to save you cash

if you plan to do a lot of off-roading and going through deep water i would highly suggest a c6 over any AOD..i took my truck through one deep water hole with the AOD (never got stuck in it) and instantly i lost 2, d, od....the clutch packs inside are very sensitive..just my 2 cent
