hey, bad news. got my new tires and hubs on. went to the beach this weekend and blew my trans possibly. I looked underneath and it was gushing fluid. I might have broken the seal possibly. Not sure. But in the event I need a new trans the c6 would be a better choice correct? I have a 95 xlt with an e40d in it now. I do mostly highway driving until i get to the sand pits, mud holes or beach. So I was wondering if the c6 would be better. ANY info would be great. I'm getting it looked at this week. I looked some things up here and I believe i've read the c6 is cheaper and a stronger trans as opposed to the e40d. please help I want my bronco back soon :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

recently had the same problem with mine ('96)....pumped what looked like 2 quarts out of the front in the inspection cover area....trans shop blew it apart, checked everything and it turns out it was just a seal...$400 to clean and freshen it up with new seals vs. new tranny or a tranny swap sounded like a deal to me. Works fine now. Food for thought....sounds like you just need a reason to swap to a c6 though!

The C6 doesn't have an overdrive gear in it like the e4od and you would have to get a stand alone computer to run your engine. If built correctly the e4od can be a d@mn good tranny and adding a tranny cooler just helps out no matter what tranny you're running. Hope that's a bit of help as well....

With any auto tranny if you tow or run bigger than stock tires that is a special operating condition and you must change the fluid more frequently!!

I also recommend getting a digital trans temp gauge and a trans cooler, The gauge will let you know if you need to go to a lower gear or stop and

let the truck cool down. a digital one has faster response time then an analog one jc whitney has one for $50.00plus sender. I put that in my fathers astro van and you should see the temps climb while in the drive thru or at a long stop light!! I wish I got a digital one after I saw that!! Get the biggest

cooler you can afford and even get one of those inline filter deals, All of this is way cheaper than a new tranny or rebuild and the gauge and cooler can

be the things that prevent a blown tranny while out wheeling. I have one of those Mity vac hand vacum pumps I use it to swap out a quart of fluid

every oil change, It may be a bit ocd but it makes me feel better to know i have some fresh fluid and detergents flowing through my lines!! That pump

is great for bleeding brakes too, I remove the old fluid straight from the resovoir, then use it to bleed the brakes, that way you are gettin 100% new fluid not a crappy mixture of old and new fluid!!
