That is a possibility if the seals are worn out. They will be flattened by having the top on but if they are still supple, it shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure the bolts are snugged up when you put it back on. Leave the side bolts loose and tighten the ones around the cab first then work your way from front to back tightening them one at a time keeping even on both sides. Test it afterward with a hose, if it leaks snug up a little more. If you tighten the side bolts first, then it will work against getting it snugged up against the cab.

If the seal are hard, then you probably should think about replacing them. Early FSB had bolts that were easily removed, later ones haave security bolts and require a security ***** driver, (they have a rejection tip inside the head of the bolt).

Good luck,

The process is pretty straight forward. Remove the screws and take off the top. I would suggest getting a buddy (or two) to help you. The tops aren't too heavy, but due to the size and placement (especially if you have any lift) it is pretty much a two man job. Putting them back on, even more so in order to get the placement right.

There are some threads here concerning an automated system for removing and storing the top in the garage. Sounds cool, but I haven't seen one in action...and mine won't fit in the garage.

Good luck,

This is just a crazy topic :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> No, the top will NOT leak if it's removed, well, not unless you f*ck up the gasket when you put it back on but that's pretty hard to do. These tops are fine & they'll come on & off as often as you like without causing a problem.

Toss the bolts into a ziplock and be done with it. You'll LOVE it with the top off.
