I know many people have different opinions about the rear tire carrier on the back of broncos, but some think that removing these is some how sacriligious, just wondering some other people's views. Personally I prefer mine off.

I prefer mine on the outside. I just think it looks better and the tire takes up too much space on the inside. That's just my opinion, I wouldn't knock anybody for disagreeing with me. After all, your truck is for your enjoyment, right? ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I like mine inside, but I want to go bigger than 33's. My spare is wedged in pretty tight between the tailgate and seat. A 38 will not fit for sure, I am going to build a rear bumper that will hold a 38. I also like the tire holder that Stacy David installed in Crazy Horse. But doesnt leave much room in the back.

I like mine on the outside as well, but the biggest draw back for me is that I can't drive with my tailgate down. Although you could tie the spare tire carrier to the tailgate (looks really stupid, ive tried)

I've had both. I don't think it makes a difference... having it inside does take up space in the back but I think it makes it a little "neater" looking. But having it on the outside is an advantage if for some reason you can't get you back window/tailgate down and need your spare.

I have driven with the tailgate down and the spare tire holder ******* as well. I had to take a couple of bales of hay down to the barn and the Bronco was the only thing I had. People do give you weird looks for that one!

But if you have a Bronco with an outside spare tire, I don't like it when people take it off, holder and all and leave the holes. I cringe every time I see those holes. At least plug them with something.

Man that would **** to have to haul that full sized spare over the seats and out the front door. I would probably get struck by lighting for the language I would be using.

Weird looks, I haul my quad in my Bronco, I will try and get a picture, people laugh and point. I don't see the problem. I also haul my bike around in the back. Its a 2003 Yamaha XT350.

Thats what the person that owned my bronco before me did, he painted the plugs so it would follow the paint scheme. You really couldn't tell the difference until you got up close and it wasn't somthing that killed me to look at, just put the carrier back on for the spare when off road.

I have no spare at all (talk about pretty scary on ANY kind of trip) but I was wondering if I could see what the tire looks like on top of a rack if anyone has a picture? That's something I would like to do. Man this site effin' rocks!

What kind of rack? Like on the roof or what? I've seen a few Safari Racks with the spare mounted up there. Looks pretty good, except for me I like my roof off most of the year.

I prefer mine on the outside, the only proble is that I don't have a carrier for the outside. Are these racks interchangible? I found one on a 84 bronco, and the junk yard said they would sell it to me for 20 dollars... I just don't know if it will fit on my 89... anybody know? If not, I'll let everybody know when I blow 20 bucks this weekend.

Its the same providing you have the mounting points. Reason being is that they are re-inforced on the inside of the quarter panel. It will tear off in no time without the re-inforcements

I like it on the outside, Ive seen the Broncos with them installed inside and it takes up too much room especially if you run bigger tires.

i keep mine outside. the only thing i dont like about it is all that weight hanging off my tailgate. i know once in a while i had to release the carrier to get the

rear window key switch to work. now that the window is temporarily out of action, im glad its out back. just getting my toolbox out of the back and past the front seat is a pain in the a$$

I liked ( :(( ) having it out back, but my goal was to put it up top. Here is my suggestion because I think it would look kick ass. Get a Surco roof rack and mounting system and put it up there during the fall and winter. Summer time when the top comes off you have a mounting system behind the rear seat like the desert runners do and you put it back there. also just completely remove tailgate in summer and don't keep anything in there you don't need. Saw a Bronco on my way home Saturday night with wife and baby son in my Exploder. Roof off and tailgate replaced with Gator net for wheelin. Covered in mud. Yeah I cried a little - you got a problem with that?
