Just wondering if a tailgate from a pickup would fit? I leave my top off and I think it would reduce some weight from the back of the truck plus I would be able to fix the rust spots in the tailgate while its off. Has anyone done this?

Even though the outer skin looks the same, I don't think it will work. The Bronco tailgate is much thicker so even if the hinge/mounting points match up the outer surface wouldn't line up with the outer surface of the tail lights.

I've never tried it or seen it attempted so I'm just guessing. I could be wrong. B)

measure youre gate and a pick up gate see if theye are the same or gut out a junkyard bronco gate (glass motor tracks etc.) and have the top sealed i know a guy that runs with no top did that before he just put a piece of diamond plate over the opening cheap and easy except for diamond plate he had old bed rails from a pickup he modified to fit.
