My Son has a 1988 FS Bronco. with out the pumpkin, that is because he gave it to me to Fix. I have taken it apart so if you have not seen one due to knowing how to pull stumps here is the step by step on a 8.5 with a 30 spline 1.30 dia. axle. This rear axle was used from 1980 until 1996. it has a 44 tooth ring gear and a 16 tooth pinon. He has ordered a Loc Right locker which is good, but I know he did not order the correct one. send it back and maybe we can get the right one..
This is the pumpkin complete with orange marking paint for putting the bearing caps and adjuster back in the same place.
I used a 3/4 socket and impact on all the Bolts 
Yellow paint mark marking other side
You can almost see the spider gears.-------------
I removed the 2 bolts in the bearings. and the adjuster Lock screws and the Diff came right out.
taking off Ring gear with 2 screwdrivers-----. 
Had to use a paint scraper to split the case and 2 ***** drivers on equal sides this is why the ring gear must come off
Now you can see one of the axle gears from the spider 
Now you can see the broken gears the shaft was harden and did not break. Now you can tap it out.
This is the 30 spline gear for the Axle. 
Last gear for the other axle.
