I'm looking into switching from an AOD auto trans to either a C6 or an E4OD after I'd finish my 351w, though I'd like OD because I will see highway use. While looking around, I saw stall converters, both high and low. What do they do, and which is more desierable for a street truck with moderate offroad use?

Stall converters will engage the gears at a higher speed. If you have a 1500 Stall converter then your trans will not hit first gear good untill 1500 RPMs. The main reason to get a stall converter is when you're running a big cam that has about the same specs, like a 1500-5500 RPM cam should have a 1500 stall and a 2000-7000 RPM cam should have a 2000 stal on it. So if you're running a stock motor for the most part and not running a radical cam, there isn't much of a reason to have a stall converter. Just my $.02... hope this helps
