1973 Bronco. Should there be blocks between the leaf springs and axle housing in the rear? My truck has them. I am new to these trucks and want to put the truck back stock. It currently sits a little higher in the back than the front and I suspect it should be level. I have cleaned all the U-bolt threads and am about to remove the blocks, but want to make sure they should go.

Thanks for any help.

Tom's Bronco Parts responded to an e-mail message I sent them and told me "NO, the blocks should not be there on a stock truck". So, that's the answer in case anyone else wanted to know. I'm taking the blocks out tonight.

Stock the bronco does not come with blocks. I would remove the blocks. I have seen many vehicles with blocks loss lift block under high torque conditions on the trail. If you are looking at lifting the bronco. I would remove the spring and buy new spring packs or you can get a add-a-leaf for the spring pack. You can purchase spring that are stock height and springs that are arched to the lift the you want.

I second that scrapping the blocks. I saw a guy (a complete idiot that is) have 4" of blocks up wheeling and they fell out cause he didn't tighten everything. Needless to say he caused a ton of damage.

How tall are the blocks..?

They may be there because the rear spgs. are sagging....or....

There may be a lift in the front.!

In either case, you may now sit "nose-high" ...not a good thing.!
