I finshed up the shackle flip mod on my 84 Bronco this past weekend, well, almost... I swapped an 88 Sterling axle from an F-350 last year, and just used the stock Bronco leaf springs with the F-350 4-inch block and standard-length u-bolts. The pinion angle was terrible, about level with the ground. I also didn't want to use blocks for a rear lift, so I planned to flip the rear shackles.
I removed the rear spring front hangers from the F-350, and mounted them to the frame on the 84 Bronco. I also moved the Bronco rear spring front hangers back two inches to re-center the axle. I got 4-5 inches of lift and don't need the blocks. the pinion angle is good, really close at least. I now need some shorter u-bolts to fit the axle and Bronco leaf springs. I can't seem to find any for a Sterling axle that are 8-10" long, so if anyone has a source, please holler. Thanks, Randy JSM84
