Replacing rear drums and shoes

Anybody have some suggestion on what type of shoes and drums i should put on my 95 xlt? It only gets to see offroad a few times a year, and nothing too wild.

Also the rust has just begun to eat thru the rear wheel wells and i was wondering about putting some flairs on, any thoughts?

it has factory suspension and standard sized tires on it.

If it stops fine now why not just go with stock replacement? With stock size tires and wheels an increase in braking power will not be all important, If you are loking for the best stopping power go with a disc brake conversion kit or '95 up explorer rear axle with disc brakes

just use stock drum set up. i just replaced mine with all new hardware. got all the Parts from broncograveyard.com no problems to note of yet just a squeek hear and there when they were new but they had to bed in and now their fine.

get wheel cylinders if u need them and self adjuster kits i got them from a local parts store.

I would agree with mbtech. For your needs, a good thorough overhall (to include replacing those 12 year old springs and other small hardware) with stock parts from your local parts store is the best and cheapest way to go. For your type of driving, the only "upgrade" I would do is to use ceramic pads when it's time to do the FRONT brakes. They will all but eliminate that red/black dust build up on the front wheels.

As for the fenders, if the rust is not too bad, you can do just like you say and cover the area with some kind of flare. Just make sure you remove all traces of rust and treat the exposed metal to prevent future rust or your Bronco's "cancer" will just keep spreading beyond the areas you can hide with flares.

i had to do mine about a month ago due to a busted axle seal. i just used factory replacement stuff. it stops fine for me.

I went to the rear disc brakes on one of mine, is does stop much better, but I'm not going to rush out & spend the money on the other two the difference in cost is hard to justify unless you are doing some extreme stuff

I'm another for the stock replacement, they are more than adequate
