First thank you to everyone and Al for your help. I am a 2 month old Bronco owner so some of this stuff is all new.

My rear window on my 93. It does not work and the side windows do work.

Here is where I sound a little stupid and I have tried to look through posts and other stuff to find out but I will confess I have no idea because the window won't go down or up and I can't find anything to help.

There is a switch in the back on the roof by the rear window. Door-Off- On. What do those 3 selections actually do?

The key hole in the tailgate does what? Unlocks the door or rolls down the window

The switch on the dash obviously runs the rear window up and down.

Do any of the 3 things above have to work together to roll the window down?

Where are the two fuses for the rear window to check?

Last how do I trouble shoot if all of the above are ok?

Thanks so much and I am proud to be a Bronco owner!

Update 4 hours later - Put new 20 amp breaker fuse in and fixed a loose wire. Window rolled down from the dash. Key in back wont do anything. Got the window out now. Bent guide wire. Still tinkering around. Motor just wont go up.

It looks like someone jury rigged it.  Broncos were not shipped with the switch you mention.  That being said, both the dash and tailgate switch are supposed to operate the window.  Diagram attached.

You will probably have to restore the wiring using the diagram.  The two switches work as a unit. Power is supplied to to each switch individually as you can see on the diagram.

There are two fuses, You should have 12V at the black/white wire on the tailgate switch.

Will the window go up from the dash switch?

:)>-

Yo Treg,

As Fred advised.

92 through 96 Broncos have the benefit of that rear cargo lamps ON/OFF/DOOR switch. It helps light the cargo area when the doors are closed and the switch is in the ON position so that one can load or unload the cargo safely.

Will try to attach a depiction of the switch below.

A light swtich. That makes sense. The window will only go down from the dash switch. It won't go up. The key switch does not work. Going to take off the left tail light today and see if something is cut in the harness that goes through that area. With the window out I can see that there is just a lot of grimes and built up mud in the whole area. Going to get that all cleaned up and grease everything. By the looks of everything the tailgate has not been down in a long time and I don't think the roof has been off in a decade.

Got to buy some new parts:

* replace the right tailgate latch. It does not engage and the previous owner just took off the locking bolt on the side so it is not even latching.

* the guide rod to the bottom of the tailgate was all bent so I straightened that up. It looks like it just rides on that long horizontal rod on the bottom of the gate?

* The tailgate handle rod is all bent so hopefully I can get that figured out how that looks.

* A couple of the white plastic rollers on the window bracket that runs on the track cracked when I popped them off.

It looks like on line all that I can find to replace all that is getting it from Ford. JC Whitney or any other place does not have them listed. If anyone knows of a place to get parts let me know.

Thanks for your help and I will update.

Watch out for the Dorman HELP brand stuff now....the driver/passenger door striker kit w/ bushings, 38445 are not good..bushing diameter is way off and striker frame is off as well....it will bolt-in, but aligning it for a no-rattle fit is a waste of time and possible damage to passenger or driver.

the Dorman HELP tail gate striker bushings pn 38424 are a good fit & the door bushings driver/passenger bushings are incl. in this kit & fit better than the 38445 part!

Handle, Inside Does Not Return to Fully Flat; "...The rod running to the Left (down) is the interlock rod that detects the glass being fully down. It is supported by a clip similar to the ones used for the hood cable. The one to the R (up) is the one from the handle. You can see that the mechanism it's attached to is bent. This comes from attempting to open the tailgate before the glass is FULLY down and it causes the inside handle not to return fully flat..."
