I just got a '79 and the rear window doesn't operate.

Troubleshooting would be a lot easier if I knew how it's supposed to operate.

What I know: The motor is good. The switch on the interior latch is bad. There is no power or ground on the plug leaving the body. The keyswitch turns to the left but not the right.

On the plug going into the tailgate, Pin 1-Pin 2 is open, Pin 1-Pin 3 is short, Pin 2-Pin 3 is open normally -- with the key turned to the left, Pin 1-Pin 2 shorts, Pin 1-Pin 3 opens, Pin 2-Pin 3 remains open. I didn't make note of wire colors because I was hot and frustrated when I reached this point. Pin 1 is badly corroded, and I assume "hot at all times" -- with Pin 1 on top, Pin 2 is lower left and Pin 3 is lower right.

What I don't know: Is the keyswitch supposed to turn to the right? The dash switch, which I haven't gotten to, is supposed to reverse polarity to raise and lower the window -- how does that happen by the keyswitch if if isn't supposed to turn to the right? Where is the 20A fuse that's shown in the Haynes manual? Where is the "safety relay" that's shown in the Haynes manual?

Thanks Sea Bronc for the diagrams, now I have a clue on where to start checking the wireing.
