I've been looking for a new (to me at least) Bronco and have had little luck so far. Today i looked at an '89 5.0L with 35" tires. and it is really sweet! However, when i pulled over to check the engine i noticed quite a bit of oil leaking. It left about a 4" wide stain on the ground in a matter of minutes. When i asked the owner about it he said it was the rear main seal, and he tries to put about a quart in every month. The oil pressure guage was definately low, and my question is how much am i looking money wise to fix and how much of a problem will it be down the line? The engine ran very strong, and the transmission was replaced about 10K miles ago. (engine has 113K on it currently)

usually its the oil pan gasket .... it starts leaking usually where the rear seal is ....
Prolly right, the oil pan gasket leak could be it ,but a big leak may be the rear main. From 83-96, the Bronco V8 motors use a 1-piece rear seal, which means pulling the tranny to change the seal. About $400 labor. JSM84

my 95 has a one piece rear main!??! changed it when i did my oil pan lol eng was out of the truck though

might be worth trying to tighten down the oil pan bolts before you do much of anything else, sometimes they work loose and youll get a leek.
You can pull the starter out, and the inspection plate for the transmission bellhousing. If the starter or ring gear on the flexpalte is oily, the rear main is leaking.
