No.

There were a couple of options. Look at the safety compliance sticker on the driver side rear door post. There is an axle code on it. If the truck has the original gears this is reliable. Also on the differential there is a tag that has some codes on it. One of the codes indicates the gears and should match what the axle code indicates. On the sticker you will find something like 16, 18, 19 or H6, H8, H9.

18 for example is 3.08:1 H8 is 3.08:1 limited slip. On the differential you will find a similar thing like 3L55 which is 3.55:1 limited slip. Tell us the code and we can tell you what it means.

If all that fails, there is a mechanical way to tell.

Good luck,

:)>-

i don't think its the 3.08's but it could possibly be a bigger size than the 3.55's

what are the gears 3.55+ and up

1983 Bronco only had two choices 3.08 or 3.55 from the factory. Codes 18 and 19 on the safery compliance sticker. If it is H8 or H9 that indicates a limited slip differential. If the axle code is some thing like H82 then the front axle was also a limited slip differential. If not, the front is an open differential of the same gear ratio.

If your truck has any thing else, then it was regeared.

Good luck,
