Radio Installation Problems

In my 90 Fullsize, where the radio trim piece screws in (4 holes in each corner) 3 of the four holes have that little piece of plastic broke off, and the copper pieces that hold the screws in are gone. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this? Could I put a small piece of wood behind it and use self tapping screws? Any help would be greatly appriciated. I'll try to get a pic posted.

as bad as it sounds I forgot those were there mine have been gone for so long just took one of the sleeves for an after market and set it up so the radio is attached to the trim panel in front and the plastic slider in the back sounds week but the radio I had was only held that way in the original set-up from a taurus

you are just going to have to rig it as best you can. You have a good idea there though. Try it and see how it works. Then educate the rest of us.

I think what I'm going to do is take it to the local radio installation store and just let them deal with it, since they know a whole lot more about it than I do, but if I do something before then I'll repost and let yall know.

talked to a friend at work that does stereo install on the side and he usesa two part cement for plastic goops the area "back together lets it set then drills new holes and installs like normal

I used metal clips like the ones that are used in the bed rail for the tops, only smaller. This seems to work just fine for my radio

I would just use that sleeve method that the other guy was talking about. That is what I have used for a long time and it seems to work okay CD skips a little more than i want it to but that is okay
