Radiator coolant problems!!! Please help

Soooo this has been like this for a while and i finally got around to ask you guys. Ok so every time i look at my coolant its always gone and usually i'll fill it back up to the cold fill line (when the car is cool), and after a day or two of driving i'll check it agian and it gone (when the car is cool). Today i check it again and naturally its gone again but this time i looked in side and it looked like it there was about a half an inch of gravy in it. I got a stick and scooped some up and it looked like dog ****. Now the engine temps always fine and i dont know if this is normal or even a problem at all but what the heck is it? Thanks

If there's no obvious external leaks....then more than likely there's a breech in the head gasket.

Carbon & fuel are being suspended in the coolant & settling in the bottle.

Is the oil OK...? (not milky)

Does the coolant have a bad odor..?

Any moisture at the tailpipe..?

Does the coolant have a bad odor..? ---- Smells like powerbait to me and think that smell very good.

I'd suggest that someone put stop leak in the coolant and that is what looks like dog crap and smells bad also. I'd start by doing a serious flush of the system, unfortunately if someone used that crap in there the radiator may be clogged up as well as crap inside the engine water jacket. If the coolant is disapearing, you need to find out how and where it is going. Along with the other possibilities previously mentioned, you may be leaking it out the water pump weep hole or you could be burning it due to a small leak in a head gasket. A small leak into the cylinder can go out in vapor form and not be noticable when you are driving. If you have a very slight head gasket leak, they often seal up when the engine gets up to temp which is why it doesn't just pour out.

if you don't have the correct tools, knowledge or time i would probably figure maybe $400+ depending on the mechanic and how much damage has been done to the heads etc. i would probably buy my own parts and take them to a mechanic if you don't have the know-how or time though. that's what i do when i just don't have the time or space and it saves you a bit. besides most mechanics i find are so used to customers wanting the cheapest deal they use the cheaper parts. plus i get a little piece of mind knowing that the part he installed was a good one that i picked out.

Not that serious...just a bit time consuming the 1st. time

I did my first one at 17 yrs. old. Basically it's just taking things off & putting them back on.

If you want to re-build the heads....just take'm to a head-shop. OR, at least see if they'll inspect them for you.

definitelyinternal leak. try some stop leak but i don't think that will work. it would only work for an external leak and even then it wouldn't fix forever. You mighthave the take the heads of and take them to be magna-fluxed to check for any cracks and then if you have cracks. you should replace them.

ford racing sells a head gasket kit for about 80 bucks... u can get it from jegs or summit. when doing the headgaskets i would get rid of those exhaust maniflods for a set of headers as well. as for the head gasket kit. i used it when i did my cam swap. worked out sweet part number is FMS-M-6003-A50
