I could use some help on this....

I'm looking to buy one of the aftermarket power steering kits offered by Wild Horses or Tom's Bronco Parts and they both tell me that their kits are set up for V8s. And that I'll need a different pump bracket to connect their PS system to my 6 cylinder. Yet neither one of those vendors carries the bracket.

Any suggestions on where I can find one? anyone out there got one for sale?

Thanks for your help. Just took it to Hollister Hills (Northern California) for the first time last week and had a blast, but sure would be nice to have some power steering.

You could build one or, try a wrecking yard....look for a 6 cyl 200 cu. in. on a T-bird, or the like.

In fact, you could prob. get the pump, pullies, hoses & belt there as well.

The box & shaft need to be Bronco specific.

The best set-up for the shaft is; upper shaft hooked to rag-joint on lower shaft, with U-joint at bottom (at the box)

If you can find one that fits close you can drill your own holes and add spacers where needed to make it fit. This is what I did years ago with no problems.

Hi Steve,

Let me preface by saying I seriously doubt you need more HP..!

You've got the right diff. gears to do most any off road trail, save actual rock bashing. (Mega HP = snapped piecee-parts.)

456's aren't the greatest for highway running but I still do it.

I use maybe 1/4 throttle while going up thru the rough, etc....

I leave Jeeps, Jeep Rubicons, & Land Cruisers behind & have to wait on them out on the trail.

Anyway, 200 block & 250 head were done B/4 I bought it. Yours is a 200 block ....the 250 head is a direct bolt on but I don't think there's a noticable diff. in power. I have a 200block/200head six out of an early 80's T-bird ready to go in if mine should "burp" ...!

I tidied-up 11 early Land Cruisers & 6 early Broncos...played with them all, & the 6cyl stick was/is my favorite...thats why I still have it.

HTH

Bob
