I have a 1990 Bronco 2 auto, 4wd, 2.9L with a noise issue. If I get on it hard from the sitting position or if I am on an incline and get on the gas my Bronco makes a grinding type noise and it does vibrate a little. Someone told me it was my U-Joints needing grease but on my Bronco 2 have the OEM CV-Joints. I haven't delt much with CV's and am not sure what exactly to do.

Does this sound correct that it is my CV's making the noise? I thought at first it was my oversized tires but they aren't even coming close to rubbing. Is it best to grease them, or just replace the CV? If I do need to grease them where would it be located? I can't seem to find it and haven't found anyone that can tell me wether or not the 90 Bronco 2 factory CV's even have one or not.

I don't want to switch to a U-Joint because it is my daily driver and I do get it up to high speeds from time to time and have heard the conversion would cause a lot of vibrations.

Other than this my Bronco 2 run's like a champ and like I said as long as I don't get on it to hard it doesn't make the noise, but I'm sure that the problem still needs corrected.

I dont think it'd be your CV joins in the front at all. If that in fact is what your talking about. If you ahve the CV driveshaft, that could possibly be the noise. My B2 had as noise like what your describing ( the noise when you put the pedal to the floor) It had the CV driveshaft, and I went through 2 of them before replacing for a solid driveshaft. Id have maybe a buddy of yours stand next to your truck and listen to figure out if its coming from the rear of the truck. Hope this helps.

Thanks, that does help knowing that someone else has had this issue.

Where would be a good place to buy a solid driveshaft? I haven't done any looking yet and am wondering if I can buy one from an online shop or if I need to get it made?

I have actually seen those CV driveshafts round off inside to where if you stopped at the right spot it would just free wheel inside itself and then give it a little gas and it would catch and take off definately not a good thing . Very possible that shaft is what you have going out :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Im sure the driveshaft is the problem. Like mentioned before, the shaft on mine just stripped away. ( to much hot rodding the little truck) B) You can either go to a junkyard (like I did) and get one. Usually the earlier years have the solid driveshaft. Its beats spending $200 for a new one. (I paid $40 at the junkyard) Works great. Havent had an issue with it. Be sure to grease the grease-serts though. Good luck with it!
