Hey guys,

Just found the site and it has allready been extremely helpful. I'm 17 and just "finished" the first phase of my bronco buildup. All of yall know you are never truly done. Well its a 1992 Custom with an automatic tranny and a 5.0. It now has a 6" Rough Country lift and a 3" body lift and I'm running 38x12.5 TSLs. I was wondering if any of yall had any sugestions on a new gear ratio, since I currently have the stock gears. Thanks a ton. :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Welcome to the Zone > . Sounds like a neat Bronco. Post some pictures when you have time we would like to :-B at them. Also add yoiur truck vital statistics to your signature, it will help in the future when you have questions and save you the trouble of having to repost such information.

As for gear ratios with 38 in tires probably 4.56 to 4.88 would be good compromise, the actual profile may be less or greater than 38 depending on the rim width, so you need to know that for accurate calculations. It has more to do with how you intend to use your truck. Things such as is it a off road only vehicle, primarily a road machine, normal highway cruise speed, where in the power band do you want to operate (economy end, power end, or someplace in between) all influence your choice of gears. There are several sites that give good information on selecting gears and simple formulas for doing your own calculations.

See Jeff's Bronco Graveyard 80 and up catalog page 42 for an nice chart and formula. Keep in mind his chart is calculated for a 55 highway cruise so if it is 65 for you then the calculations shift to the left about 4 colums. You can see that by doing a calculation using the formula he provides. http://www.broncograveyard.com

Another thing you may want to consider is upgrading your axles from Ford 8.8 and Dana 44 to the stronger Dana 60 and a solid front axle, also known as a SAS, Use SAS to search on information regarding it. If you put much serious strain on the stock drive train with large tires you will start snapping things. :-&

Have fun and enjoy :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Good luck,

:)>-
