If I remember correctly, the driveshafts are fit with 1330 joints. From what I've read the 1310 and 1330 joints have the same cap sizes but center points are different sizes which plays into angle options..right?

On the 88/89 broncos, the drive shaft is held into place at the axle and tranny via U bolts. So for my case, I would assume if the 1310 and 1330 have the same cap diameter then they should bolt up with ease. But I don't know Jack about drive shafts so I'd hate to give this guy $40 and it doesn't fit..

The guy said the driveshaft was from a jeep. Dunno what kind.. However he says compressed it measures about 31" and fully extended at 35". This is what I got from broncograveyard:

Item #32408 - New

1988-89 Ford Bronco

A.O.D. Automatic Transmission

This is a rear driveshaft with u-joints at both ends.

Overall compressed length is 31½"

Overall extended length is 35 5/8"

Not sure 'bout "jeep" stuff on a FSB...

"But I don't know Jack about drive shafts"

With your lack of knowledge., I recommend you talk to your local driveline shop.

That rear shaft has to be "right" .... :-B

That's what I'm sayin. This looks identical to mine as both ends have exposed u joints which can be attached to the truck with u bolts.

I was going to just order a new one, but I need to save my money as it's going to cost me around 4k to move everything across the country. Bronco clunking bad now and I need a good temp fix until the move. At that point a new motor a paint and other things get a good improvement.

Well, Jeeps and FSBs use the DANA 44 rear end, so that should fit. The question remaining is will the Double Carden joint attach to your transfer case rear output yoke. If the measurements are the same, then most likely it will work for you.

Seabronc..... Are you sure....?

They (Jeep) went to a so called D-44 (front) when it became the Rubicon.

(not sure about the rear)

And doesn't the FSB have a corp. 8.8 rear & D-44 front.???

Some jeeps I've seen have a real skinny dr. shaft....

You are righ. I must have been half asleep  I'd still think that if all the measurements are the same, it would fit. You are probably right Elmo, but if he doesn't work it hard it would probably work, he said it was only to be a short term solution. However Jeff's has them for under $300.00. http://broncograveyard.com/bronco?search=driveshaft

yo,

This is what Apache0715 was trying to do elsewhere;

Since he began it on 20 OCT 10, no one has added or confirmed any dimensions.

Dimensions, Rear; Overall Compressed & Extended Length (partial)

Stock Drive shaft Lengths

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would like to get a compilation of drive shaft lengths for people to reference. I have been searching and can't seem to find any information on it.

Can we get some posts of driveshaft lengths for your stock Fseries/Broncos? Front and rear, fully compressed and full extended. Transmission/Transfer case type and rear end type.

Determine the driveshaft length by measuring from the centerline of the front U-joint cup to the centerline of the rear U-joint cup.

Example

1987 Bronco 351/C6/BW1356/8.8": Rear (non flanged) - 28"/35" front - 20"/28" (THESE DIMENSIONS ARE EXAMPLES NOT ACTUAL)

I will post mine up the next time I am home. If you post up I will edit and place all measurements in this post for easy referencing.

Found some info (should have checked there first, www.broncograveyard.com (I stopped shopping there after my an order issue))

(does not state XFER case, I assume BW1356, if anyone has a discrepancy let me know)

TSB 97-20-15 U-Joint Identification

Publication Date: SEPTEMBER 29, 1997

LIGHT TRUCK: 1990-1996 BRONCO

1990-1997 AEROSTAR, ECONOLINE, F SUPER DUTY, F-150-350 SERIES, RANGER

1991-1997 EXPLORER

1997 EXPEDITION, MOUNTAINEER

ISSUE: Available U-joints for driveshaft service are not always identifiable through model application charts. Some customers may request greaseable U-joints as a personal preference.

ACTION: Refer to the following Service Information for availability of U-joint with grease fittings.

SERVICE INFORMATION

TO IDENTIFY U-JOINT BY MEASUREMENT:

Remove the old U-joint.

Measure U-joint using the following measuring procedure.

Remove bearing cups.

Remove excess grease from bottom of bearing cups and trunnions.

Remove seals from bearing cups and trunnions.

Reinstall bearing cups on trunnions.

Measure as follows, permitting a tolerance of 0.005" at Dimension "G" with Dimension "D" and "E" at 0.003".

Outside Snap Ring Style

A) Measure "G" dimension and record.

B) Measure "D" dimension and record.

C) Measure "E" dimension and record.

Identify U-joint part number using reference dimensions in the Light Truck Cross Reference Chart found at the end of this TSB article.

TO IDENTIFY GREASEABLE U-JOINT FOR SERVICE:

For customers who demand greaseable U-joints due to their specific vehicle duty cycle, refer to Light Truck Cross Reference Chart.

Greaseable U-joints are typically recommended only for vehicles which operate 100% of the time in a high grit environment (e.g., coal mines).

NOTE: GREASEABLE U-JOINTS DO NOT CONTAIN END PLAY ****** WASHERS AND MAY CAUSE NOISE/VIBRATION/HARSHNESS (NVH) CONCERNS ON CERTAIN APPLICATIONS.

OTHER APPLICABLE ARTICLES: NONE

WARRANTY STATUS: Information Only

OASIS CODES:509000, 590000, 597997

************************************************

Note that greasable u-joints are physically weaker (due to the grease journals drilled through them), and those with the grease fitting screwed in between the trunnions even moreso, due to the wedge effect of the threads. They are also less durable, due to their seals constantly being blown out by the grease being pumped through them. A sealed u-joint (which should be greased before installation, and can be re-greased by disassembly later) is stronger & lasts longer.

Depending upon if a previous owner or mechanic swapped da U Joints out, we assume you have the 1330 joints in there;

Here are comparison pics by lawdog

Where is da CLUNKING?

If at slip jopint, remove boot by slicing and grease..

If @ U joint (CARDAN) replace..much cheaper than friggin w/a Jeep driveshaft in unknown condition (balance, straight & true, un-warped/stressed)

yo, some more because I had so many Error Messages for some Pic URL's due to BZ Programming

Clunk, Driveshaft "...mark it, take it out, and separate it at the slip yoke. Grease the splines heavily, and put it back together, using new clamps on the rubber boot. Be sure to mark it before taking it apart, in order to line the splines up the same way. You can also drill and tap and install a zerk fitting in the outer part of the shaft..."
