I have recently inherited an 87 Bronco. Its in really good shape for 20 years old. I have some surfce rust that can be fixed when painted. Howeverm the passenger drip rail has all but rusted off. I have had a couple of body shops suggest just cutting the rails off and smoothing them out because, according to them they dont work. Anyone do this or know someone who has done. I just concerned the doors will leak.

I would also suggest cutting off the drip rails/ rain gutters. The doors will not leak if the weatherstripping is in good shape.
