This is my first post. I have enjoyed reading hours of info from you guys. I currently have a 78 bronco with 66,000 miles. It has a 429 big block and is bone stock. I am the second owner and I have had it for 11 years. I currently have 33x12.50 tires on it and its time for new ones. I only run it in the winter in Mississippi. No rocks or big hills. I want to get more height and bigger tires. I am concerned that it I lift it , I will only want more and more. All the lift sites tell me to run 36 tires I need 6" lift....I want a full finder well look. So can I lift it 4" and run 36 or even 38. I will never cut this truck so that is out. You guys 9" lift with those 44 gets me fired up...But my wife and I need to be able to get in and out of the thing. Is 6 " too much? can I run 38 with a 6" and 36 with a 4". It have 4.11 in front and rear. It was a special order by the ole guy I got it from. It does not have the sliding glass or captains chairs. I use it to pull tractors and as a hunting truck. I have the tools and shop to do the work and I am convinced that Skyjacker is the type of lift I need. Super Swamper TSL is the tire I want to run. I dont want that look that has the truck with a lot of finder air around the tire. Thanks for any help and I love the fourm.

huntsober, howdy & welcome to Bronco Zone!!! The lift height and tire size charts are only a suggestion, and will vary from rig to rig and from one kit brand to another. I'm running 38" TSL Super Swampers on my 78 Bronco with the stock suspension and 3" trimmed out of the front fenders. I am confident that a 4" kit will work with those tires if I had not cut the fenders. My 79 F-150 4x4 has a 3" SkyJ susp kit plus a 3" body lift with 35" BFG Mud terrains. I feel that I would need the 6" susp kit and the body lift to fit 38's on that truck. I bought a new-in-box SkyJacker 9" lift kit with that F-150 that I was going to put on either that truck or the Bronco. The SkyJ kit is well-designed and I've always had good luck with their kits. IF you want to run 38's on uncut fenders on a 78/79 Bronco, I would go with the SkyJ 6" susp kit so you don't have any rubbing issues with the fenders. The 9" would give you more room, but you'll definitely need to work over the driveshafts. You should get by with the stock ones for the 6" kit. Plus it'll be less money than the $1200 9" kit. JSM84

Here's a link to my Superford gallery with pics of the 78. Just click on my name at the top of the page to go to the 79 F150 gallery:
