O.K., I realize I've been buggin' you guys lately, but I have ANOTHER question.

It is very rusty under my Bronco. Not really any holes, but almost anywhere I touch underneath, flakes of rust start falling on, or around, me. I do live in upstate NY, and I believe the truck has been up here most of that time, so the salt of winters has definately taken a toll. Should I be worried about this, or is this just normal on most vehicles up north? Anything or any particular place underneath I should pay extra attention to? (I'm going to change the fuel tank next weekend)

Thanks!

I've got a lot of rust under my Bronco too. I think NO rust is better than some rust. And I'd like eventually to get rid of it all. But I'd say if there aren't any holes, you can wait for a bit.

The guy at the shop said that rust is like cancer. Once it' there it won't go away and the only way to get rid of it is to cut it our or replace the part. He said even if you sand blast the frame and powder coat it, once it's beer rusty, the rust will come back.

YUCK!

If I were you, I'd get a wire brush and start scraping that rust off before it does develope a hole. Then get some undercoating or have it undercoated.

i agree, even tho much stuff under there is tought and supposed to not be affected by rust, i think everything is, get a wire brush or a drill and a wire wheel and clean it off, and at least paint or undercoat everything, it will protect it for years to come, totally worth it

i would try to get rid of any rust. i know around here with the road salt and the salt air theres no avoiding rust you just need to stay on top of it to keep it at a minimum.

POR-15 is good stuff, so is Rust Bullet, but cost is around $100 per gallon. I used OSPHO on my frame, then Rustoleum primer and Dupli-Color bedcoating. the only regret I have is that I would liked to have had the frame sandblasted to save time. Took me about four months of weekends:
