I did a quick search and didn't see a quick answer to this.

I recently decided to get a Bronco 80-93 to help relieve the the stress my wife feels when I use her new car for Home Depot runs and either car for paintball games and hauling the dog.

If this is already covered in a different thread, I apologize and could somebody point me in the right direction.

So what should I be looking for as I start to look at the Bronco's. Is there anything I should avoid or be looking specifically for? What is a good price? And anything else I haven't thought of?

thanks in advance

how did you guys do it? I have found several bronco's that look promising and they range from $850 - $4000 and from 1982 -1995. How ddid you guys weed through everything to figure out what price was "good"? I feel a little overwhelmed by the choices out there.

Welcome to the zone,

The thing that you have to remember with a Bronco is no mattter what it is going to be old. You have to wrtie down what you want. What it primary use will be for so an and so on. If it is just for paintballing hauling the dog and home depot runs than you don't need an eye cathcher and you won't have to look for one that has heavy-duty wheelin' upgrades. I got mine for $1000 and pretty much just flushed all fluids, rebuilt the carb and she was good to go. If you are looking for something that you can look good in cruising around town in then you want to go with a 90-96 model. If it doesn't matter and you just want it to run then you will probably get a good deal ona 82-89. I wouldn't go any older than that unless you want to restore something. The price range is huge because Broncos are hard to find in some places and alot of people have put alot of money into it. You could probably find a good stock bronco for under $2000. Hope this helps and good luck.

I am also looking for a bronco in the Northern VA area. I am only looking for a good runner and that is just about it. Body/interior is not important. What would you all figure for a good price, ballpark?

you know i think no matter what you want a bronco for intially, you end up falling in love with them (or already are before owning one), so you end up spending thousands on them in the end.

yep. by next tuesday i'll have dropped between $2000-$2500 on the lift and tires alone. that's one project. i've got 5 other major projects left on my list. . i would think just for engine, tranny rebuild, differentials, paint and interior; that may run me around $9000- thats a quick estimate off the top of my head though.

i think just for reliability factor even if you just want it to be a reliable errand runner will cost quite a bit too. but, once you get started it's hard to stop. depends alot on like others have said - what you want in the end. but, i would probably spend a little more on something that was maintained a bit better. then again there's always that great deal out there. just depends on if you're the person that finds it.
